Dyson OnTrac Headphones: Customizable Comfort and Style

Dyson OnTrac Headphones

Dyson has made a grand entrance into the audio world with the launch of its Dyson OnTrac headphones. Remember their noise-canceling headphones and pollution mask from back in 2022? The latest model might just be a revival of that, minus the mask and plus over 2,000 interchangeable ear cups and cushions, including aluminum, copper, and nickel. These covers are crafted from super-soft microfiber and quality foam to ensure the sound acoustics are sealed perfectly.

The base of the headphones comes in four colorways, designed by Jake Dyson and the Dyson Colours, Finishes, and Materials (CMF) team. One of the options is the Ceramic Cinnabar, boasting a ceramic-effect painted finish. Dyson’s OnTrac headphones are highly customizable too, allowing users to mix and match four different parts of the gear in various finishes and colors. You can have one cup in nickel, another in copper, the left in-ear cushion in lemon yellow, and the right one in sunset-hued orange.

Dyson has engineered its OnTrac headphones to effectively block out unwanted noise, providing a superior listening experience. They have developed an active noise cancellation (ANC) system that utilizes eight microphones to analyze the sounds around the user a staggering 384,000 times per second. This cutting-edge technology can eliminate up to 40 decibels of noise. The headphones are equipped with 40mm speakers that can handle a wide range of sounds, reproducing music accurately from deep bass to clear high notes. The speakers are tilted at around 13 degrees towards the ears of the users, enhancing the clarity and directness of the sound.

For those who tend to forget to check their rechargeable headphones‘ battery life, the Dyson OnTrac headphones offer a sigh of relief. They can last up to 55 hours on a single charge, allowing users to enjoy their music for up to two weeks without needing to recharge, even with noise cancellation activated. The headphones feature two batteries placed in the headband to evenly distribute the weight on both ears.

Users are able to turn on or off the noise cancellation feature by tapping either ear cup twice. They can also connect to the MyDyson app to monitor sound detection, internal and external volume, and harmful noise levels in real-time. The app offers three custom EQ modes to select from: Bass, Boost, Neutral, and Enhanced. Thanks to sensor technology, the headphones can detect when users take them off, automatically pausing the music. When users put them back on, the music starts playing again. Additionally, there is an intuitive joystick included, allowing users to control their music using a small physical remote on the headphones. Through this joystick, users can play, pause, skip, fast forward, rewind the music, and even use voice commands by holding it down. With two microphones, the Dyson OnTrac headphones can capture the user’s voice clearly and eliminate background noise during phone calls.

The headphones also keep track of the volume levels internally and externally, alerting users if the sound levels could potentially damage their hearing. If users prefer not to use the joystick, they can simply utilize the MyDyson app to control their headphones and receive automatic software updates. At the time of this publication, Dyson has introduced the OnTrac headphones on its website and in physical stores, priced at 499 EUR.
